Felt to Dye For
This one-day or two-day workshop explores the art of dyeing as it pertains to felted projects, pieces and yardage. Dyeing the felt rather than (or in addition to) the fleece or roving adds another layer of complexity to your finished project. The many aspects of dyeing felt will be discussed. Starting with prefelts or previously made felt, you will work on incorporating colour layering, imagery and texture into your felted pieces. A variety of techniques will be used, including shibori stitching, folding and clamping and found objects. You will learn several different dye techniques including immersion dying and dye painting (batch dyeing).
